About the press
Barbarian Press is a fine press owned and operated by Jan and Crispin Elsted in Mission, British Columbia, Canada. Established in England in 1977 and moved to British Columbia in 1978, the press was begun after the Elsteds were introduced to letterpress by Graham Williams of the Florin Press. Crispin handles design and typesetting, usually by hand, and Jan the presswork. The press publishes in several areas including literary classics, translations, typography and books on wood engraving, and remains actively publishing.
